Rainbow Academy child care centers was recently nominated for the New Jersey Family Business of the Year Award. The academy has locations in Rutherford, Whippany, Brick, Iselin, Cranford, Woodbridge, North Brunswick and Summit. The award is sponsored by New Jersey Monthly magazine, PNC Financial Services Group Inc. and the Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University. It recognizes the role family businesses play in the nation’s economy, as well as their importance and contributions to the state and local business community.
Guy Falzarano, Colonia section of Woodbridge, is president and CEO of Rainbow. The family-owned center was founded in 1997 in Iselin. It employs more than 250 child care professionals and can accommodate 1,573 children. Falzarano’s wife, Julia, is director of the Iselin center. Son Louis is co-director of the Cranford center, Guy Jr. is the creative director for marketing, and David is a teaching assistant in the Iselin center.
The Associate Alumnae of Douglass College of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, has launched a new Web site to inform individuals about Douglass, the all-women’s college at Rutgers. The site is www.douglassdifference.org and is designed to keep visitors informed about the college’s planned restructuring and upcoming events.
