John Gelardi

   HILLSBOROUGH — John Gelardi died Aug. 24 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 61.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Piscataway before moving to Hillsborough in 1986.
   Mr. Gelardi was an accountant for more than 25 years working for Brooklyn Savings Bank, General Motors and the American Stock Exchange. He also worked as a real estate agent for Century 21 Worden & Green office in Hillsborough.
   He was a former Hillsborough Township Committeeman and deputy mayor.
   Surviving are his wife, Katherine (Vitarelli) Gelardi of Hillsborough; one son John of Bridgewater; one daughter, Danielle Cianfaro of Branchburg; a sister, Joanna Carallo of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were held Aug. 28 from Bridgewater Funeral Home in Bridgewater, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard Church in Bridgewater. Burial was in St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater.
