Disturbing find discovered on Tuesday

A marble urn, filled with the remains of a 27-year-old woman who died in 1999, was found Tuesday in a large metal trash bin at Central South Storage on Route 130.
The deceased woman’s name was Amanda Katherine Matthews and the only information the facility has about her is the day she was born and the day she died, both of which are inscribed on the urn along with the message "Forever Loved."
Lisa Kollman, assistant manager at the facility, said she is disturbed at the thought that someone threw away Ms. Matthews’ ashes and hopes that a family member or friend will come claim the remains and the urn.
"I called the police and I tried to research the people here and no one seems to be connected to the person in this urn," Ms. Kollman said. "I can’t figure out where she belongs and she certainly doesn’t belong in the garbage."
Ms. Kollman said the company that hauls the facility’s trash discovered the sealed urn Tuesday morning and brought it to her attention. When she saw that the remains were still inside, Ms. Kollman called the Cranbury Police Department. The police informed her that ashes can be disposed of in any way and the incident was not a crime.
"It may not be illegal but it is just immoral," Ms. Kollman said.
Ms. Kollman said she spent $30 to research the woman’s name online to see if a death certificate, obituary or family tree could be located. The attempt was unsuccessful.
Ms. Kollman is asking that, if anyone has any information about Ms. Matthews or would like to claim her remains, they should call Central South Storage at (609) 655-5151.
