PLAINSBORO The township Police Department is recruiting for its fall Citizen Police Academy, which will begin Sept. 12 and last 11 weeks.
The program is designed to better inform citizens on the duties and responsibilities of the department not to train civilians to carry out the duties of officers, police said. It also helps bridge the communication gap between police and Plainsboro’s residents.
Recruits will be exposed to the following topics: investigations and forensics, traffic safety and enforcement, domestic violence, crime prevention, driving-while-intoxicated enforcement, mutual aid, emergency management and others.
Anyone 18 or older may attend the sessions, which will be held from 7 to approximately 9 p.m. on Tuesdays. Graduation will be in November. The applicant must be able to attend all of the sessions.
For more information or to receive an application, contact Officer Michael Kelly at (609) 799-2333 ext. 681, or visit www.plainsboropolice.com. Applications are also available at the police station. Selection is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
