Hazlet Recreation Commission will hold a prayer service in remembrance of the fifth anniversary of Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at James J. Cullen Center at Veterans Memorial Park, 1776 Union Ave. All community groups are invited to attend to support the country and its men and women who continue to sacrifice for the nation’s freedom. The Amanda’s Easel Art Therapy program of 180 Turning Lives Around Inc., Hazlet, will commemorate the fifth anniversary of Sept. 11 with an evening of creative expression and discussion 4-8 p.m. The event will be held in the art gallery at the CVA building at Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown. Middletown Township will hold a memorial service Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. to honor the 37 residents lost in the World Trade Center attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The service will be held at the Middletown Memorial Gardens off Church Street next to the Middletown train station. The ceremony will include the presentation of colors, live music, remarks from community representatives, and the lighting of a candle in memory of the victims. Attendees may walk through the gardens following the program. The service will be held rain or shine. Free parking is available at the train station.
