Memorial trip
Saturday, Sept. 9 The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 899 will sponsor their annual bus trip to the Vietnam Wall and Korean War Memorials in Washington, D.C., leaving from the Bordentown Township Community Center at 9 a.m. and returning by 10 p.m. The trip will include an all-you-can-eat buffet at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Baltimore, Md. Walking tour
Saturday, Sept. 9 The Thomas Paine Society of Bordentown will hold their next Second Saturday Guided Walking Tour through historic Bordentown City begging at 3:30 p.m. at the Old Book Shop of Bordentown, 200 Farnsworth Avenue in the City. The raindate will be the following Saturday, Sept. 16. The tours are free to the public (tax-deductible donations are appreciated) and wheelchair accessible. Casino trip
Sunday, Sept. 10 The Knights of Columbus No. 570 is sponsoring a trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. The bus will leave St. Mary’s Church parking lot, Elizabeth Street, Bordentown, at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay at the casino. Gift auction
Friday, Sept. 22 Christ Episcopal Church, Bordentown, is sponsoring an auction to be held at Carslake’s Community Center, 209 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Prizes at this Gift Auction will include tickets to museums, theaters and sporting events; gift certificates to restaurants, hair dressers and various stores; and gift baskets. One hundred chances at $20 each will be sold toward a 32 inch wall-mount TV. Refreshments and a light supper will be available. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Village festival
Saturday, Sept. 30 The 18th annual Crosswicks Village Festival will be held in the village from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A wide assortment of activities are scheduled, including $10 house tours, a vintage 1873 baseball game, an antique car display, a Lego contest, games, live music, food and more. A spaghetti dinner will end the day at the Crosswicks Fire House, for $8 per person. The event is sponsored by the Chesterfield Township Historical Society, Crosswicks Community Association, Crosswicks Library, Crosswicks Methodist Church and Crosswicks Fire Company. Cleanup day
Saturday, Sept. 30 The Bordentown Township Environmental Commission is having a stream cleanup day. The commission is meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Kline Drive and Jumble Gut Run in Wellington Woods to work on the clean up of Jumble Gut Run. Anyone wishing to assist in this project is welcome.
Day of fun
Saturday, Sept. 30 Holy Cross Lutheran Church, "A Place Where Good Things Happen," will host a day of fun for everyone from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 280 Crosswicks Rd., Bordentown. There will be a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All other activities begin at 10 a.m. and include: hay rides, pony rides, petting zoo, air jumper, dunk tank, sporting events (hoop shoot, Frisbee golf and Wiffle ball home run derby), a concert, kids games, bake sale, food and beverage, craft station, play station center, dance-dance station, one huge "Family Fun" door prize, a prayer station, and a prize redemption station. All proceeds benefit our Isaiah Project Ministry Program, which helps local homeless families. For more information about this event go to our Web site at www.hclconline.org.
