EDITORIAL: Get together on Unity Day

EDITORIAL: Join in on the community fun at noon SAturday in Woodlot Park.

The weather forecast for Saturday is looking pretty good.
And that’s good news for local residents and community groups, because Saturday is the 18th annual Charlene J. Austin Community Unity Day.
The event, created as a way to bring the community together to fight substance abuse, has grown dramatically over the years. It regularly draws as many as 10,000 visitors to Woodlot Park on New Road, who get to browse the wares on display by area merchants, meet their neighbors and learn about groups like the township Arts Commission, first aid squads and local churches.
The event also features rides and games for the kids and local entertainment.
It is the one day during the year when everyone in town gets together, learns a little about the community and has a good time.
The event kicks off at noon and ends at 5 p.m. (In the event that the weather forecasts are wrong and it does rain, the event will be rescheduled for Sept. 16.)
We’re hoping everyone in town will try and stop by.
