Michael Cigler

   HILLSBOROUGH — Michael J. Cigler died Aug. 29 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was 72.
   Born in Somerville, he had lived in Franklin and Raritan before moving to Hillsborough 65 years ago.
   After 40 years, Mr. Cigler retired in 1988 as a self-employed sign painter and graphic artist.
   He served in the United States Army as a staff sergeant from 1957 to 1960.
   He served on the board of directors for the People Care Center located in Finderne.
   He collected and sold knives and swords at the Neshanic Station flea market.
   He was communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville and worked very closely with the Manville area Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council 6573.
   His wife, Josephine (Niro) Cigler, died in 1980.
   Surviving are a son, Michael S. Cigler of Hillsborough; one sister, Catherine Nagy of Raritan; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were held Sept. 2 from Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home in Manville, followed by a funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Bernard Roman Catholic Cemetery in Bridgewater.
