"We got a chance to put aside our normal work and just enjoy the day meeting the community while raising funds for a worthy cause."
The sales associates of the Monroe office of Gloria Nilson GMAC Real Estate recently spent a beautiful summer Saturday not selling homes, but selling cups of lemonade to raise funds for research and cures for childhood cancers.
"Fighting childhood cancer one cup at a time" is the slogan of Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a foundation that honors the work and memory of young cancer patient Alexandra Scott. That’s the attitude the real estate professionals at the Monroe office took during their recent event.
"We got a chance to put aside our normal work and just enjoy the day meeting the community while raising funds for a worthy cause," said branch executive Regina Haimer. "The day wasn’t about real estate; it was strictly for the good of Alex’s Lemonade Stand."
Gloria Nilson GMAC Real Estate received some help from the community, too. Rita’s on Route 130 in East Windsor supplied the physical stand, the same one they used for their July Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The Monroe Township Stop & Shop on Perrinville Road donated ice and cookies for the event.
"We already have plans in the works for our Alex’s Lemonade Stand next year," said Haimer. "We all went home feeling so good about the day. It’s an amazing feeling."
