Madrid-based architect named by Princeton University for new building

Madrid-based José Rafael Moneo Arquitecto will design the new neuroscience and psychology buildings on the Princeton University campus.
The firm is headed by architect José Rafael Moneo, a visiting professor at the university in 1982.
The buildings will comprise part of the natural sciences neighborhood the university will create south of Ivy Lane. The new buildings will be located on the west side of Washington Road.
"Moneo is very thoughtful and analytical in his approach as an architect, and that’s a nice fit for the buildings’ uses," said Princeton Executive Vice President Mark Burstein in a written release. "He’s an architect whose strength is in understanding the context of a site and designing structures to be successful within that context."
As announced in 2005, Princeton’s new neuroscience institute will unite multiple disciplines, including psychology. The new buildings, like the disciplines they house, will be connected.
The buildings will be the architect’s first at the university.
