Leaders in Hightstown and East Windsor were planning to meet Wednesday to discuss the possible consolidation of the borough police force, according to township Mayor Janice Mironov. Expected at the meeting were Ms. Mironov, Township Councilman Marc Lippman and borough Mayor Bob Patten and Borough Councilman Walter Sikorski.
The four met once in April after the Borough Council required Mayor Patten to investigate police regionalization. But the talks were called off as mayoral opponents Mssrs. Patten and Sikorski said the issue had become too political and Mayor Mironov had become reticent because of negative comments about consolidation from some Borough Council members.
If there’s anything to report on Wednesday’s meeting, it will be in Friday’s edition of the Herald.
