Amboy National Bank held a grand-opening celebration Sept. 9 at its new office at 285 Gordons Corner Road in Manalapan. The new branch, the 23rd location for the Old Bridge-based bank, offers extended banking hours starting at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday for both the banking lobby and the drive-up service. The Mid-Atlantic Emmy nominations were announced on Aug. 3. New Jersey Network received 19 nominations in categories as varied as arts program, education/schools program, community service and interview discussion series, to name a few. Among the nominees is Robert E. Hartman, of Howell, nominated for his work as photographer on the NJN documentary special “Seaside Story.” The special featured the story of three seaside businesses over the course of a summer in the iconic Jersey Shore town of Seaside Heights. The Ultrasound Department at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, has been accredited through mid-June 2009 by the American College of Radiologists (ACR), a national quality-standards-setting organization. The accreditation covers general, gynecological, obstetrical and vascular ultrasound services. The ACR awards accreditation for the achievement of high practice standards based on rigorous peer-review evaluations of personnel qualifications and equipment performance.
Last year, the Ultrasound Department became one of a select number of U.S. vascular laboratories to earn reaccreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for The Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories for its quality testing for the diagnosis of vascular disease.
Ultrasound is a type of radiology service that uses high-frequency sound waves and echoes to capture images of structures inside the body. The procedure detects diseases that change the appearance of organs, tissues, or abnormal masses, such as tumors.
Michael Craig, a lifetime resident of Freehold who has been studying the Japanese art of origami for many years, recently visited the Little Red School House Pre-School Academy, Sweetmans Lane, Manalapan, to present a demonstration for the children. The children enjoyed Craig’s demonstration, in which he showed them how to create swans, jumping frogs, sailboats, houses, and many other shapes with the paper-folding art. He instructed the children in making drinking cups, and gave each child a pre-made sample of his work to take home.
Huntington Learning Center, a provider of supplemental learning services, has opened a new center in Howell. The new location is the 35th Huntington Learning Center in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area. Dr. Raymond J. and Eileen Huntington opened the first Huntington Learning Center in New Jersey in 1977. Advantage Engineering announced an agreement to merge with Schoor DePalma Inc., a 1,050-person engineering and consulting firm with office locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Florida, Arizona and Mexico. Schoor DePalma’s recapitalization partner, Trivest Partners LP, will manage all financing elements of the acquisition agreement. No financial terms were disclosed.
Based in Manalapan, Schoor DePalma specializes in land development, public works, environmental management, transportation, building services, and telecommunications.
Advantage Engineering will continue to operate under its current name and will be a division of Schoor DePalma.
