JACKSON – A date and time have been set for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Hope Cathedral Church.
Sonja Parker, church communications director, announced that the ceremony will be held on Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. at the site where the new church will stand on West Veter-ans Highway between Route 571 (Cassville Road) and Leesville Road.
“This is an historic day in the life of our congregation,” said Trevon Gross, pastor. “It is much akin to a family that has rented [a home for] their entire lives being given the opportunity to acquire a lasting residence. For the past three years we have been a mobile congregation. Once our building is completed we will have a permanent headquarters to execute the vision that God has given to us. This is a cause for great praise and thanksgiving to God.”
Gross said as the congregation breaks ground for its new worship facility, the event will symbolize a significant turning point in the life of the congregation.
“Much of what we have hoped for, prayed for and given toward is now one step closer to fruition,” Gross said. “We tell everyone that Hope Cathedral is a place where hope becomes reality. This is true of the lives of the members and the church herself.”
The pastor said he expects the congregation to be in the building by November 2007. All permits are being finalized and work should begin within 30 days, he said.
The new church will cover 27,000 square feet on a 9-acre site. Approximately 100 families are members of the congregation. The Sept. 15 ceremony is open to everyone in the community, Parker said. For more information call (732) 928-9072.
