Education Foundation hosts lunch for book lovers

Book Lovers’ Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Hopewell Valley Golf Club in Hopewell Township

On Oct. 28, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Princeton University professor, Joyce Carol Oates, will join book lovers and book clubs from the community at a luncheon where she will discuss her writing process and to read an excerpt from one of her most recent books.
The Book Lovers’ Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Hopewell Valley Golf Club in Hopewell Township. Community members and area book clubs are invited to join the Hopewell Valley Education Foundation, the sponsor of the event, and Ms. Oates. Proceeds from the luncheon will support an author-in-residence program in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District.
There also will be an informal question and answer period and a book-signing by the author.
In addition to Ms. Oates’ discussion, the foundation will sponsor a silent auction of gift baskets for all book lovers: including reading glasses, book totes, bookmarks, autographed copies of books by local authors, and more. Book club members are encouraged to donate copies of books their clubs have read as well, to be offered for sale during the luncheon at $5 each.
The cost is $45 per person. Luncheon selections include a chicken or a vegetarian meal. Book clubs may reserve tables for their members to be seated together. Open seating also will be available.
To register, visit www.hvef.org, or e-mail at [email protected]. Registration forms will be available on the Foundation Web site, at local libraries, and at the six district school buildings. Since seating is limited, those interested in attending are encouraged to register early.
