John Tomaszfski

   MANVILLE — John J. Tomaszfski died Sept. 8 at home. He was born in 1935.
   He was raised in Highland, Pa., and came to live in Manville in 1958.
   Mr. Tomaszfski was employed at Johns-Manville, Corp. for 34 years leaving when the Manville plant closed in 1986. He was a member of the Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club. He retired from Somerset County Facilities and Services in 1997.
   He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Lake Champlain.
   He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough. For many years he served as trustee, president of the Holy Name Society, usher and belonged to the Leisure Club. He also attended Saturday Bingo at the church.
   Two brothers, Tommy and Bernie, died in 2005.
   Survivors include his wife, Theresa (Hartz) Tomaszfski; two sons, Joseph of Lancaster, Pa., and Charles of Stroudsburg, Pa.; three daughters, Debbie Sniscak of Montgomery, Donna Szymanowski of Hillsborough and Gina Chugunov of Skillman; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, Tony, Mike and Willie; one sister, Sue Pavak; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Chet "O."
   Funeral services were held Sept. 13 from Hillsborough Funeral Home in Hillsborough, followed by a service at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
