FREEHOLD – Monmouth County Sheriff Joseph W. Oxley swore in five newly appointed sheriff’s officers at a brief ceremony at the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
The new officers will begin training at the Burlington County Police Academy as part of the 92nd Recruit Class on Oct. 2 and graduate on March 15, 2007. Their starting salaries are $32,740.
Sheriff’s Officer Kyle R. Patton, 23, of Englishtown, is a graduate of Brookdale Community College with a degree in criminal justice. He is a graduate of the Ocean County Police Academy Special II Academy and was previously employed by the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department. He received that agency’s Lifesaving Award in 2004.
Sheriff’s Officer Edna Coonan, 26, of Keansburg, was previously employed as a police officer with Metropolitan Transportation Authority, graduating from the New York Police Department Police Academy in 2006. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and criminal justice from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., and a master’s in criminal justice from John Jay College, New York City.
Sheriff’s Officer Daniel G. Royle, 32, is a graduate of Keyport High School and DeVry University Computer and Communication Technician Course. He previously was employed as a certified journeyman carpenter with Carpenters Hall Local 2250, Red Bank. He resides in Union Beach with his wife and son.
Sheriff’s Officer Donna R. Gonzalez, 24, of Eatontown, is a graduate of the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, Sandy Hook, and the Monmouth County Police Academy Class II Special Academy. She has served as a special police officer with the Avon Police Department and a dispatcher with the Bradley Beach Police Department.
Sheriff’s Officer Ryan J. Hoppock, 28, a graduate of Raritan High School, Hazlet, was previously employed by Solectron Global Services at Verizon Wireless, West Long Branch. He resides with his family in Hazlet.
