Dorothy Christoffersen
Dorothy Anne (Gray) Christoffersen, of Lawrenceville and Memphis, Tenn., died Monday after a lengthy illness.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., she also lived in Colorado and Tennessee before moving to Lawrence in 1958.
A graduate of Central High School and Memphis State University, Mrs. Christoffersen taught at the Peabody School in Memphis and the West End School in North Plainfield.
She was a genealogist by avocation. She was a member of the Jamestowne Society, the Magna Carta Dames, DAR, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and many other historical societies. She descends from Captain Thomas Graves, who settled in Jamestown, Va. in 1608.
Daughter of the late Herbert Clyde and "Jimmie" (Carothers) Gray, Mrs. Christoffersen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harold Christoffersen; a son and daughter-in-law, David Gray and Miranda (Townley) Christoffersen, of Lawrence; a son and daughter-in-law, James Brooks and Michon (Smith) Christoffersen, of Franklin, Tenn.; grandsons William M.T. and Charles D.T. Christoffersen, of Lawrence; and a granddaughter, Laura Grace Christoffersen, of Franklin.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Frank Simonelli
EWING Frank M. Simonelli Sr. died Sept. 7. He was 84.
Born in Lawrence, he was a Ewing resident for most of his life.
Mr. Simonelli was employed by the Roofers Union Local 108 and Local 30, of Philadelphia, for 50 years until 1989. He also worked as a roofing inspector for the F.H.A.
Mr. Simonelli was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church of West Trenton and served on the first building fund committee. He was one of many founders of St. Ann’s Church of Lawrenceville.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving from October 14, 1942 to December 19, 1945 in the 8th Army-Air Force 325th Photographic Wing Recon, stationed in England and Central Europe. He was decorated with the American Theater, European-African, Middle Eastern Ribbons, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
Son of the late Michael and Mary Aversano Simonelli and brother of the late Dominic, August, Peter, Michael, William, Alvera Pasquito, Claudia Rossi, Judith Apgar and Rose Vaccaro Bade, Mr. Simonelli is survived by his wife, Sandy; three sons and two daughters and their families, Frank Simonelli Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif., William Simonelli and wife Tara, of Hamilton, John Simonelli and wife Barbara, of Medford, N.Y., Sandra and Dean Nicholaou, of East Windsor and Linda and Dino Doukas, of Huntington, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, Frank III (Tre), Liam, Leif, Sara, Mary, Rebecca, Paul, George, Dean, Michael and Alex; one sister, Margaret Kalafut, of Ewing; one sister-in-law, Marie Micai Simonelli, of Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel, West Trenton. Burial was in Ewing Church Cemetery.
Harry Mahan
MULBERRY, Fla. Harry T. "Ted" Mahan Sr., of Mulberry, died Sept. 1. He was 76.
Mr. Mahan was born in Trenton and was raised in Lawrence. He was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, Class of 1947, and a longtime resident of Hamilton before moving to Florida 15 years ago.
Mr. Mahan was a carpenter. He then went to work at Princeton University, retiring after 30 years.
Mr. Mahan served in the U.S. Army as a forward observer and reconnaissance sergeant in the Heavy Mortar Company, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division of the Korean War. He was the holder of the Combat Infantryman Badge and was awarded the United States Korean Medal and the United Nations Korean War Service Medal. He received an honorable discharge in 1959.
Son of the late Frederick and Florence (O’Hara) Mahan, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret "Peg" Mahan; one son Harry T. Mahan Jr., of Hamilton; two daughters, Gail and Donna Mahan, both of Hamilton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Lillian Mahan, of Port St. Lucie, Fl. and Robert "Bobby" and Lorraine Mahan of Tanner, W.V.; two sisters, Ruth Ridgway of Port St. Lucie, Fl. and Suzanne "Suzy" Walczak of Branchburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Saul Colonial Home, Hamilton. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.

John Zvosec
TERNOPIL, Ukraine John M. Zvosec died Aug. 30. He was 76.
Mr. Zvosec was born in Lorain, Ohio. Following an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant JG, he received his bachelor of architecture and master of city design from Miami University, Ohio.
In nearly 40 years of architectural practice in Princeton, he did much to advance his vision of affordable, quality housing accessible to all. Notable among these projects are Eggerts Crossing Village in Lawrence and Architects Housing in Trenton, for which Mr. Zvosec received an award from his peers in the New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
Following the loss of his wife, Barbara, in 1998, after 39 years of marriage, Mr. Zvosec joined the Peace Corps and was stationed in Ternopil, Ukraine. He served an unprecedented six years as a Peace Corps Volunteer, first with the Ternopil Department of Ecology and then with the nongovernmental organization (NGO) Caritas. He was working with Caritas and other NGOs in Ukraine at the time of his death.
Son of the late Michael Zvosec and Magdalen Matotek Zvosec, he is survived by his wife, Alla Khoperiya, of Ternopil, Ukraine; two daughters, Christine, of Virginia and Deborah, of Minnesota; and two brothers, Joseph, of Arizona and Steve, of Ohio.
All friends and colleagues of Mr. Zvosec are invited to a memorial program at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Lawrence Neighborhood Center, 295 Eggerts Crossing Road.

Rose DiGirolamo
HAMILTON Rose E. DiGirolamo died Sunday at her home. She was 75.
Born in Morrisville, Pa., she was a Trenton area resident most of her life.
Mrs. DiGirolamo was a retired nursing assistant employed by the Morris Hall Home for the Aged.
She was the wife of the late Robert A. DiGirolamo and is survived by a son, daughter and granddaughter with all of whom she resided Robert DiGirolamo, Rosalie A. Major and Briana Rose Major. She is also survived by additional daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon C. and Vernice Hearn, Theresa A. and John Farrell, all of Bayville; two sisters, Margaret Kulikowski, of Lawrence Township and Barbara Frailey, of King of Prussia, Pa.; three brothers, Michael Sayko of Levittown, Pa., Augustus Sayko of North Carolina and James Sayko of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Rogers Funeral Home, Trenton. Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hamilton Township.
Dominick Pintinalli Jr.
Dominick Pintinalli Jr., of Lawrence, died Tuesday at the Compassionate Care Hospice in St. Francis Medical Center. He was 63.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Pintinalli worked for Princeton University in the Grounds and Maintenance Department paint shop. He was an Air Force Reserve veteran and a member of Lawrence Township American Legion Post 414.
Mr. Pintinalli enjoyed being outdoors and fishing with his family in the Delaware River and later in life took an interest in surf fishing. He enjoyed playing darts at the American Legion with many of his friends.
Son of the late Dominick and Ermelinda DiDonato Pintinalli, son-in-law to the late Peter Borza and husband of the late Denise Pintinalli, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kellee McGuire and Ron; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dominick Pintinalli III and his companion Diana Munoz and Paul Pintinalli and his wife Dawn; and a stepdaughter, Kimberly Witkowski and her husband, Vincent. Also surviving are two sisters, Millie Purgavie and her husband Jim; Rita Scozzari; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn McGuire, Dominick Giovanni Pintinalli and Vance Witkowski; mother-in-law Mildred Borza, his former wife, Linda Pintinalli and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrence. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alan Mifflin
HAMILTON Alan Peter Mifflin died Aug. 29. He was 25.
Born in Hamilton, he was a lifelong area resident.
He was employed by Nigito Construction in Bergen County and was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Seaside Heights Fishing Club.
Grandson of the late Howard and Eleanor Mifflin, Mr. Mifflin is survived by his father, Richard J. Mifflin, of Groveville; his mother and stepfather, Adeline and John Amodio, of Hamilton; his maternal grandmother, Margaret Salsbury, of Hamilton; two brothers, Richard J. Mifflin II, of Hamilton and Johnathan Mifflin, of Groveville; a sister and brother-in-law, Normajean and John Meheski, of Hamilton; four aunts and their husbands, Norma and Paul Nigito, of Bergen County, Alice and Nandi Palmia, of Allentown, Grace Salsbury and Kismet Natiku, both of Hamilton; seven uncles and their wives, Russell and Lillian Mifflin, of Lawrence, Howard and Sheila Mifflin, of New York, Frank Mifflin, of Browns Mills, Roy and Diane Snow, of Lancaster, Pa., Joe Salsbury, Fred Salsbury, both of Bergen County, and Bill Salsbury, of Florida; a niece, Cecelia Meheski, of Hamilton; a close cousin, Angela Petretta, of Trenton; and several other cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, Yardville. Cremation was private.
Theodore Zorn Sr.
MANCHESTER Theodore J. Zorn Sr. died Sept. 3 at Whiting Health Care Center. He was 92.
Mr. Zorn was a furniture salesman for Park Lane Furniture in Lawrence for 25 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. He was a former member of the Lawrence Township Lions Club. Born in Trenton, Mr. Zorn lived in Lawrence before moving to Whiting 32 years ago.
Predeceased by one great-granddaughter, Sarah Merritt, in 2000. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret; one son and daughter-in-law, Theodore J. Jr. and Deborah Zorn, of Ormond Beach, Fl.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothea and Michael Simonelli, of Bordentown and Margaret and Martin Kusek, of Hamilton Township; one brother, George Zorn of Port Orange, Fl.; six grandchildren, Michael Simonelli Jr., Linda Peloquin, Debra Merritt, Jeffrey Kusek, Keith Zorn and Alicia Bassey; and eight great-grandchildren, Michael R. and Ashley Simonelli, Meghan, Zachary and Hannah Merritt, Grace Kusek and Alexander and Isabella Bassey.
Funeral services were Friday at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment was in Ewing Church Cemetery, Ewing.

Eleanor Pugliese
HAMILTON Eleanor E. Bodnar Pugliese died Sept. 3 at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. She was 70.
Born in Jessup, Pa., she had resided in Trenton prior to moving to Hamilton Township.
Mrs. Pugliese was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Trenton, and most recently of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church in Hamilton.
She retired from the state Department of Health and Senior Services after 27 years, most recently as the Supervisor of Licensure and Inspections for Acute Care Facilities.
Mrs. Pugliese graduated as a registered nurse from the Ann May School of Nursing in Neptune. She received a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Administration from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and later became a Certified Public Manager.
Predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Anna Staskovic Bodnar, she is survived by her husband of 47 years, John R. Pugliese of Hamilton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine and Douglas Klinefelter of Stevens, Pa.; Mary and Duane Kalczynski of Robbinsville; and Erica and Raymond O’Grady of Middletown; four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Matthew Kalczynski, and Connor and Catherine O’Grady; four siblings, Andrew Bodnar of Englewood, Colo.; Anna Grala of Lawrence; Mary Breccia of Allentown; and Joseph Bodnar of Bordentown; and many friends, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday at the Saul Colonial Home, Hamilton. Interment was at St. Mary of the Assumption Byzantine Catholic Cemetery no. 2, Hamilton.

Sadie Mae Mitchell
SOUTH BRUNSWICK Sadie Mae Mitchell, died Aug. 30 after a lengthy illness. She was 81.
She was born April 16, 1925, to the late Author and Emma Fisher, in Princeton. She was the youngest of six siblings.
She received her education in the Princeton and Mercer County school systems. She was a member of the Mount Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church of Princeton; Rising Sun Temple No. 119, where she was Senior Mother of Juvenile Class; P.D.R. Rising Sun Temple Trinity Council; P.S.P. of New Jersey State DOES; and P.G.D.R. of the New Jersey Circle.
Predeceased by her husband, James, a daughter, Deborah Mitchell Thompson, siblings William Maize, Elizabeth Fisher White, Harriet Fisher, Florence Fisher and Isaiah Fisher, she is survived by sons George Mitchell "Porky," of Trenton, Walter Sutton "Chung," and Phillip Sutton "Sam," both of South Brunswick, and Johnny Mitchell, of Trenton; daughters Phyllis Sutton, of Lawrence, and Barbara Sutton, of California; sister-in-law Estelle Jennings Fisher, of Princeton; friends Earl and Mona Newkirk, of Sicklerville, Edith Beagles and Becky Patterson, both of South Brunswick; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday at Mount Pisgah AME Church, Princeton. Burial was at Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville.
