Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts’ $3 million capital campaign, the first in its 44-year-history, has been awarded $50,000 by OceanFirst Foundation of Toms River. The grant, awarded over two years, will help provide funding for the new 11,520-square-foot activity center, athletic fields, basketball courts, 12,480-square-foot equestrian center and infirmary on the council’s 140-acre campus in Howell. Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts serves more than 12,000 girls throughout Monmouth and northern Ocean counties.

The Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey (SBACNJ), Lake-wood, is accepting nominations for its 2007 Fabulous Achievement in Marketing Excellence (FAME) Awards, with deadline for submission Dec. 1. Entry packets are being mailed out to all members this month. The award recognizes builder and associate members for outstanding accomplishments and creativity in sales and marketing campaigns. Jazzercise dance-fitness classes (formerly held at the Estonian Club) has moved to the Pop Warner fieldhouse, 133 Manhattan St., Jackson, according to instructor Lisa Hogan.
Hogan said the move will provide her students with a convenient centralized location and a much larger professional workout space. An expanded weekly schedule of classes will also be offered at the new facility.
Jazzercise, now celebrating its 37th year in business, combines elements of dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and more to create programs for people of every age and fitness level. Hogan has been an instructor/franchise owner in the Jackson area for three years, and has worked with the Jackson Community School and Jackson Depart-ment of Recreation.
Patty Matlock, of Jackson, recently joined thousands of entrepreneurs from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan and Malaysia at Shaklee Corp.’s 50th anniversary conference, held in San Francisco Aug. 16-20.
Shaklee, a natural nutrition company, set a first for the city: it offset all carbon dioxide emissions associated with the conference, including Matlock’s air and ground travel, hotel accommodations, and event activities in what was billed as the first carbon-neutral conference in the history of San Francisco.
