Gift auction

   Friday, Sept. 22 — Christ Episcopal Church, Bordentown, will sponsor an auction at 6 p.m. at Carslake Community Center, 209 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Prizes at this gift auction will include tickets to museums, theaters and sporting events, gift certificates to restaurants, hairdressers and various stores, and gift baskets. One hundred chances will be sold, at $20 each, toward a 32-inch wall-mount TV. Refreshments and a light supper will be available.
Plant restoration

   Sunday, Sept. 24 — Help plant native wetland species along Blacks Creek in Bordentown City. Bring a shovel and gloves. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Bordentown Beach parking lot. Event is sponsored by Delaware River Greenway Partnership and Bordentown City Environmental Commission. For more information visit www.bcec.us.
Village festival

   Saturday, Sept. 30 — The 18th annual Crosswicks Village Festival will be held in the village from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A wide assortment of activities are scheduled, including $10 house tours, a vintage 1873 baseball game, an antique car display, games, live music, food and more. A spaghetti dinner will end the day at the Crosswicks Fire House, for $8 per person. There will be a Lego contest outside the meeting house. Participants can set up their pre-built masterpieces between 11 a.m. and noon, and judging will take place at 2 p.m., with winners announced at 3 p.m. Contestants will be categorized by grade.
   The event is sponsored by the Chesterfield Township Historical Society, Crosswicks Community Association, Crosswicks Library, Crosswicks Methodist Church and Crosswicks Fire Company. Call (609) 324-1635 for information.
Cleanup day

   Saturday, Sept. 30 — The Bordentown Township Environmental Commission is having a stream cleanup day. The commission is meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Kline Drive and Jumble Gut Run in Wellington Woods to work on the clean up of Jumble Gut Run. Anyone wishing to assist in this project is welcome.
Day of fun

   Saturday, Sept. 30 — Holy Cross Lutheran Church will host a day of fun for everyone from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 280 Crosswicks Rd., Bordentown. There will be a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All other activities begin at 10 a.m. and include: hay rides, pony rides, petting zoo, air jumper, dunk tank, sporting events (hoop shoot, Frisbee golf and Wiffle ball home run derby), a concert, kids games, bake sale, food and beverage, craft station, play station center, dance-dance station, one huge "Family Fun" door prize, a prayer station, and a prize redemption station.
   All proceeds benefit our Isaiah Project Ministry Program, which helps local homeless families. For more information about this event go to our Web site at www.hclconline.org. Golf fundraiser

   Saturday, Sept. 30 — Olde York Ladies Golf Association will sponsor a charity golf event at 1 p.m. at the Olde York Country Club, 228 Old York Road, Chesterfield. The money raised will benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
   The cost of the Texas shambles-format golf tournament is $50 plus cart fees. A one-hour cocktail party will be held following the tournament, which will include hors d’oeuvres and unlimited champagne, beer, and wine for a donation of $25. Spaghetti dinner

   Saturday, Sept. 30 — The Crosswicks Fire House will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatballs dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. on New Street in Crosswicks. The price is $8 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12 years, and includes assorted rolls, butter, salad, iced tea, coffee and ice cream. Children under 5 are free, and you can get a takeout dinner for $9. Tickets will be sold at the door.
Kidstuff coupons

   Through Saturday, Sept. 30 — St. May’s School PTA will sell Kidstuff coupon books. The coupon book costs $25 and includes great savings on clothing, shoes, toys, sporting goods, electronics, activities, food and more. The coupon books have something for everyone. Sheep to Shawl

   Saturday, Sept. 30 — Fernbrook Farms Education Center, 150 Georgetown Road, Bordentown, will present "Sheep to Shawl" at 10 a.m. Come see how your favorite wool sweater or knit had would have been made before machines. Watch as a sheep is shorn, then clean and wash the wool, and spin it into yarn and felt wool for crafts and decorations. Everyone will come away with a new wool product. The price is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Advance registration is required. Call (609) 298-8282 to register or for more information.
Volunteers needed

   By Sunday, Oct. 1 — Springfield Township’s recreation committee is currently seeking volunteers to run its annual Halloween Festival. Proceeds of the festival help the committee buy new equipment and fund new and existing activities. Volunteers are needed for organizing, setting up, breaking down and cleaning up. Casino trip

   Sunday, Oct. 1 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 is sponsoring a trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, leaving St. Mary’s Church parking lot, Bordentown, at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay. The cost is $20 per person, and each will receive $18 in cash and a $5 food voucher. For reservations call Bob at (609) 298-5530.
Magazine drive

   Through Wednesday, Oct. 4 — St. Mary’s School PTA is sponsoring a magazine drive. You can obtain new subscriptions or renew current ones. To place an order or for more information, call Diane at (609) 468-7899. Orders must be received by Oct. 4.
The Zone

   Friday, Oct. 6 — Enter into ThE ZoNe at 7:30 p.m. on the first Fridays of the month beginning on Oct. 6 at the Holy Lutheran Church in Bordentown. Come by for a coffee house atmosphere with an upbeat tempo, great music and thematic art expressions. Bring your own instrument, voice, thoughts and friends. Flea market

   Saturday, Oct. 7 — The Friends of St. Mary’s School will hold a flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Mary’s School Hall and Yard at 30 Elizabeth Street, Bordentown.
   A large selection of articles will be on sale from our many vendors. Refreshments will include our famous tuna salad or egg salad sandwiches and hot dogs.

Community play

   Beginning Friday, Oct. 13 — The Bordentown Community Players will perform Neil Simon’s comedy "The Gingerbread Lady" at 8 p.m. in the old auditorium of the Rancocas Valley Regional High School, 520 Jacksonville Road, Mt. Holly. Performances will be held at 8 p.m. on Oct. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28, and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 22. Tickets are available online at www.bordentownplayers.org or at the door.
