Cty. to auction 85 vehicles, jewelry

A 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 with 48,000 miles and a 2002 Dodge Ram 4X4, four-door pickup truck with 2,000 miles will be among the 85 vehicles to be auctioned off by Middlesex County next week.

Jewelry, watches, office equipment, cell phones and scrap metal also will be on the block.

The Mercedes-Benz and Dodge Ram, both confiscated by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, will be joined by other confiscated vehicles and those no longer used by various county departments. The vehicle auction will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 25 at the county’s central vehicle building at Route 130 and Apple Orchard Lane in North Brunswick.

Various motorcycles, dirt bikes, a Yamaha Raptor Quad and a foam tanker truck also will be auctioned.

The jewelry, office equipment and other nonvehicle items will be auctioned at 10 a.m. Sept. 26 at Building 216 of the Raritan Arsenal, located on the Middlesex County College campus in Edison.

Four railroad tanker cars, used for training at the Middlesex County Fire Academy, will be auctioned for scrap metal. Photos of the railroad cars will be shown at the North Brunswick site, where the railroad cars will be auctioned Sept. 25 as part of the vehicle auction.

Bidders for either auction must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the event to register. A valid driver’s license with photo is required. Payment must be made in cash or with a certified check. No other forms of payment will be accepted. There are no bidding fees.

Potential bidders may preview items from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 21 and 22 at the North Brunswick auction site for vehicles, and in Edison for the other items.
