MANVILLE George L. Bikar died Sept. 11 at home. He was 78.
Born in Manville, he lived in Hillsborough before moving back to Manville 10 years ago.
Mr. Bikar worked for General Service Administration, retiring in 2004 after 56 years of employment.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville.
He served as an umpire with the Bridgewater Recreation Commission from 1975 to 1985.
His brother, Alex; and a sister, Barbara Bikar are deceased.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Albers of Ringoes, James of Hillsborough, Scott of Manville, Pamela Cesare of Piscataway and Penny Sweeney of Hillsborough; his ex-wife, Mildred Wink of Raritan; a brother, John of Lake Hopatcong; a sister, Catherine Bulanda of South Carolina; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 15 at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home in Manville. The clergy from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church officiated. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
