LETTER TO THE EDITOR

From the issue of Sept. 21, 2006.

Family thanks supportive friends
To the editor:
The family of John Tomaszfski would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time.
We would like to express thanks to the Manville Police, the paramedic unit for their quick response and gentle kindness that day, to Father Ed Cimbala, Monsignor Nicholas Puhak, Father Joseph Erdei and the wonderful people of St. Mary’s for their support and prayers; to Father Andrew of Sacred Heart Church and Sacred Heart Cemetery for their services; to Scott’s Florist of Raritan for the beautiful flowers; to Michael Riley and the staff at Hillsborough Funeral Home and the Hillsborough Police Department.
Pops’ was a simple man yet he had the funeral of a dignitary. Thanks to those who live near the funeral home for tolerating the extra cars in the streets of your neighborhood on Sept. 12. Special thanks to John Havey, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12 in Somerville, the U.S. Navy for presenting military honors and Jim O’Reilly for playing taps. Also, thanks to the VFW and Renny and his staff for the wonderful luncheon afterwards.
Special thanks also to everyone who stopped by our homes, phoned, or sent food, flowers or cards. We appreciate your thoughtfulness. We would especially the hundreds of people who waited in line for hours to pay their respects and those who attended the funeral, it was such a tribute, we were completely overwhelmed.
And if you were unable to wait in line that day, it’s OK — we got word that you were there. "Don’t worry about if," as Pops would say.
Lastly, we thank "The Good Lord" for sharing Pops with us for 71 years. He was one of a kind and we all miss him terribly but we know he’s in good hands.
Once again, our heartfelt thanks to all. We are deeply grateful.
