Jacob Holcombe III
LAMBERTVILLE Jacob "Jake" Holcombe III, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, at home.
He was a lifelong resident of Lambertville.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and a member and past post commander of the Toscanni Post 120 American Legion in Lambertville.
He served on the Lambertville Board of Education from 1966 to 1978 and was president from 1976 to 1978.
He was an avid fisherman and golfer.
After graduating from Lambertville High School, he attended Trenton State College, receiving his bachelor of arts degree in teaching. In 1951, he was the captain of its football team that finished undefeated.
After serving in the Army in Germany in World War II, he returned to Trenton State College and received his master’s degree in administration and education.
He started his coaching career at Flemington High School and retired from Hunterdon Central High School in 1986 after 35 years.
He was head football coach for 10 years, then was the head baseball coach, finishing with a career record of 229 wins, 121 loses and two ties.
During his tenure as baseball coach at Hunterdon Central, he coached four league champion teams, four county champion teams and two bi-county champion teams.
He also served as head of the physical education department for many years.
In 1970 and 1976, he was elected Coach of the Year for the Delaware Raritan Conference. In 1983, he was elected to the Trenton State College Athletic Hall of Fame.
He was the son of the late Jacob Hise and Catherine Reid Holcombe Jr., brother of the late Ernie Holcombe and father-in-law of the late John Garrahan.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Audrey Johnson Holcombe; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Cathy and Joe Wooden of Ringoes, Vicki Garrahan of Middletown, Del., Lou and Bill Cleary of Lambertville, Janet and Tom Durborow of Ringoes and Jackie and Frank Kruty of Yardley, Pa.; one sister, Joan Ivins of Lake Como, N.J.; his grandchildren, Heather and her husband, Craig Evans, Briana, Thomas and Brett Durborow, Caitlyn and Jacqueline Garrahan and Jake Kruty.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at the church. Burial followed in Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Township.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Garefino Funeral Home, Lambertville.

Donald Jordan
NEW HOPE Donald A. Jordan, 69, of New Hope, died Monday, Sept. 11, at home.
Born in Doylestown, Pa., he moved to New Hope eight years ago.
An artist in Bucks County, his works in both oil and ceramic won him numerous awards and were displayed in many galleries throughout southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
His work currently is featured in a show at the Triumph Brewery in New Hope.
He retired from the computer software industry prior to becoming a full-time artist.
He was a graduate of the William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia and Wheaton (Ill.) College. While in college, he was active in the ROTC and later served in the Army in both active duty and the reserves.
Surviving are two daughters, Dawn C. Jordan of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Shawn Luedtke of Hilton Head, S.C.; two sons, Luke Jordan and Joshua Jordan and two grandchildren, Zachary Luedtke and Jaden Jordan, all of Hilton Head; and his mother, Dorothy Jordan, and his brother, Kenneth Jordan, both of Boca Raton, Fla.
Memorial services were held Sept. 14 at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, Lambertville.
Ruth Ent
PENNINGTON Ruth E. Ent, 92, formerly of New Hope, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township.
Born in Stockton, she was the daughter of the late William and Rheba Crum Ent.
She had formerly resided in Whiting and Sergeantsville.
She was a 1931 graduate of Flemington High School.
She retired from the Hunterdon County Agricultural Extension Center in 1976 after 42 years of service.
She served as president of the local union.
She was a former member of the Hunterdon County Soroptimist Club. She was a member of Old Rocks Church, West Amwell Township.
She was active in Christian endeavors for many years.
Surviving are a nephew, Wayne Hunt of Ringoes and a niece, Betty Jane Hunt of West Amwell Township.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington. Burial followed in Sandy Ridge Cemetery, Delaware Township.

Geraldine Hock
WAYNESBORO, Va. Geraldine Marie Pratt Hock, 75, formerly of Lambertville, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville.
Ms. Hock was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Hamlin Terrell and Mary Catherine McKelvey Pratt.
She was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church of Waynesboro.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Louis F. Hock; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Lesley Hock of Waynesboro; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy Hock of Waynesboro and Debbie Hock and Perry Meier of Conroe, Texas; and three grandchildren, Katie Hock, Alexa Hock and Matt Meier.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Hamlin Pratt, and a sister, Teresa Ann Natale.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 11 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lambertville by Monsignor Leon Kaspryk. Private burial was in St. John’s Cemetery in Lambertville.

June E. Wilson
FLEMINGTON June E. Wilson, 78, of Flemington died Friday, Sept. 15, at her residence.
Born in Point Pleasant, Pa., the daughter of the late Hugh and Agnes Dunn Allshouse, she had resided in Flemington since 1960 and was a homemaker.
Her husband, George Wilson Sr., died in 1994; a son, James Wilson, died in 1993; and a brother, Robert Allshouse, died in 1966.
Surviving are a son, George Wilson Jr. of Flemington; two daughters, Kathy Precek of Albuquerque, N.M., and Judith Senior of West Amwell Township; a brother, John L. Allshouse of Cream Ridge; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service was held Wednesday at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington.

Samuel Sigafoos
LAMBERTVILLE Samuel Sigafoos, 91, died Friday, Sept. 15, at Abington Hospital.
Born and raised in Trenton, Mr. Sigafoos had lived in Lambertville since 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Toscanni Post 120 in Lambertville.
He retired as a supervisor of building and maintenance for the Trenton School District with over 25 years of employment.
Son of the late Lewis and Edith Fiedler Sigafoos and father of the late James Sigafoos, he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Worthington Sigafoos; two sons and daughters in law, David and Ruth Sigafoos of Lambertville and Paul and Carol Sigafoos of Fairport, N.Y.; a brother, Henry Sigafoos of Trenton; a sister, Edith Errickson of Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Sigafoos of Bordentown; his grandchildren, Mary Lee Brodowski, Kelly Grala, and William, James, D. Kevin, Tricia, Michael, Douglas, Bryan, Randy and Matthew Sigafoos; his great-grandchildren, Matthew, Caroline, Samuel, Jenae, Nathaniel, Tera, Joel, Aiden, Victoria, Jacqueline, Jessica and Ryan.
Funeral and burial services will be private and held at the convenience of the family, under the direction of the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. (Route 179), Lambertville.

Margaret Horsnall
UPPER FREEHOLD Margaret E. Horsnall, 62, of Cream Ridge died Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, Mrs. Horsnall was a member of the Hope Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Executive Committee for the Republican Party of the 3rd District of Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County. She also was a past member of the Allentown First Aid Squad and the Upper Freehold Township Regional school board.
A loving wife, mother and caregiver, she was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Stella Bilinski. She is survived by her husband, David W. Horsnall; her daughter and son-in-law, Lori Sue H. and Everett Mount of Cream Ridge; her son, David C. Horsnall of Bordentown; an aunt and uncle, Mary and James Mellodge of Stockton; a sister-in-law, Robin L. Horsnall of Lambertville; two nephews, Scott L. Horsnall and his wife Melissa of Lambertville, and Eric B. Horsnall and his wife Cindy of Huntington Valley, Pa.; a great-niece, Samantha Horsnall; as well as many cousins from the Mellodge, Malloy and Inman families.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Hedwig’s Church, Trenton. Burial followed in North Crosswicks Cemetery, Hamilton.
