The following are the results of Tamarack Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Association’s President Cup – match play. Inge Robinson defeated Dot Teringer, while in the Vice President’s Cup, Ronnie Bohn defeated Diane Del Masto. At the Aug. 31 weekly competition – better ball, teams of two (80 percent handicap) – Ann Marie Broehl and Janet Hefelfinger took first with a 34, followed by Marion Batchelor and Jeanne Reaph (36), Ellie de la Bandera and Roseann Marosy (37) and Kathleen Farmer and Doris Colgrove (40). Broehl had fewest putts with 17.

The following are results from the Tamarack Men’s Golf Association’s Club Championship: Grant Herring defeated Jeff Kaufman, Jeff Byrnes defeated Antonio Toto, John Lay Jr. defeated Norm Loney, and John Lay III defeated Tom Pelicane. In the A Flight, Frank Sestito defeated George Martis, Ray Marko defeated Jim Castucci, Mike Weiss defeated Keith Chalecki, and Wes Traskiewicz defeated Al Portano.

The Sayreville-based Central New Jersey Silver Bullets U14 girls team, the Blue Lightning, dominated their season-opener against the Piscataway Stars. Their teamwork paid off with a 6-3 win at Waterfront Park in South Amboy.

The next game for the brand-new team is Sunday in Parsippany.

The Old Bridge Hustlers girls softball team announced the formation of its 2007 U14 team. Any girl born between 1992 and 1993 and is an experienced softball player is welcome to tryout for the Hustlers. Tryouts will be held Sunday, Oct. 8, and Sunday, Oct 15, at Carl Sandberg Junior High School softball field. The field is located behind the school building off Throckmorton and Ticetown roads in Old Bridge. The time of the tryout is 3 p.m.
