Police have in custody a 36-year-old township man who they say is suspected of having exposed his genitals to five women along the Route 1 corridor since June.
South Brunswick Police spokesman Detective James Ryan said at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday that police are not releasing the man’s name because no charges have been filed.
Detective Ryan incident an 18-year-old township woman saw the man masturbating in the parking lot of the South Brunswick Square Mall at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
A break in the investigation Wednesday led police to an Edison location where a man was apprehended and brought to police headquarters where he is being questioned, said Detective Ryan.
On July 10 a similar incident occurred when two women, who live on Buttonwood Court in the Royal Oaks Apartments, saw a man masturbating on the back porch of a Shadow Oaks Court apartment, at 6:16 p.m. July 10.
Police questioned the woman who lived in the Shadow Oaks Court apartment, who said she had not seen anyone and that she had been home alone for much of the day.
Police said the women told them they saw the man from about 10 feet away when they were leaving the jogging trail behind Shadow Oaks Court.
Police said there were other incidents along the Route 1 corridor but would not comment further.
