OCEAN TOWNSHIP — Police are investigating a large fire that consumed brush and stored construction materials in a township owned storage yard.
The fire broke out on July 26 at approximately 3:37 p.m. at the dead end of Cindy Lane. According to police, the heavy black smoke generated by the burning of plastic drainage pipes could be seen for miles.
Police are seeking information about five to six white male juveniles, around 14 years old, who were seen at the time the fire started.
One of the juveniles running from the scene is described as a white male with blond hair, wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts.
The juveniles were seen running in a westerly direction toward Clearview Drive, police said.
The Oakhurst and Wanamassa fire departments, along with the N.J. Forest Fire Service responded and extinguished the blaze.
Anyone with information, is asked to contact the Township of Ocean police at (732) 531-1800.
