Pack your kings, queens and pawns for the fourth chess day at the Princeton Public Library on Saturday.
The library will welcome national Chess Master Glenn Bady who plans to challenge 20 opponents all at the same time.
Mr. Bady, a resident of Philadelphia who has played at three of the library’s chess days, said he concentrates on the strongest players at first and then moves onto weaker opponents.
Susan Conlon, the teen services librarian who helped start the program, said the festivities will occur on the third-floor patio. If it rains, she noted, the events will take place in the Community Room.
Corner House clinician Russell Floyd, who co-founded the series, said chess is a great way to challenge adolescents with both logic and patience. Corner House, a nonprofit counseling agency, is also a co-sponsor of chess day.
PNC Bank, Mr. Floyd added, is funding the event.
To play against Mr. Bady, register in advance by calling the library at (609) 924-9529 ext. 240. The event will start at 2 p.m. If no seats are available, all are welcome to observe or play pick-up games, Ms. Conlon said.
