Dolls to be prepped for Holiday toy donations
By: Joseph Harvie
The township Division of Social Services needs help dressing its dolls.
Each year the division gives out stuffed bears and dolls to needy children through its Holiday Program, an annual event in which businesses and families "adopt" local needy families and give them presents and food for the holidays.
Jeanne Wert, an assistant in the Division of Social Services, said that this year the division is looking for volunteers to help dress those bears and dolls.
"It would be a good project for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts or seniors in need of community service hours," Ms. Wert said.
Volunteers have to purchase their own clothes, but bears and dolls can be picked up at the Division of Social Services, Ms. Wert said.
She said doll clothes are available at arts and crafts stores such as Michaels on Route 1 in North Brunswick or A.C. Moore on Route 18 in East Brunswick.
Anyone interested can contact LouAnne Wolf, township director of Social Services, at (732) 329-4000 ext. 7674 or Ms. Wert at ext. 7672. Or visit the division offices in the lower level of the Municipal Building on Route 522.
