Chiropractor ‘an amazing person’
To the editor:
Dr. William Schroeder, DC, CCSP:
Where do I begin? You have been practicing in Manville for 17 years. I have been a patient of yours 10 of those years.
I wonder if the good people of Manville actually know what a humanitarian you truly are.
I am so proud to say you are my chiropractor and most of all my friend. When we as a nation were attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, you were one of the Chiropractic Recovery Team members who went to Ground Zero on Nov. 1, 2001.
You arrived at the Red Cross Center to be processed with your credentials followed by walking to the heavily damaged Marriott where you were going to give chiropractic care to the heroes, the rescue personnel.
Upon arriving at your destination you were kindly greeted outside the entrance by the volunteers who hosed your feet of the soot and possibly human remains on your shoes. You worked for many hours, emotionally and physically drained from the experience.
On Dec. 16, 2001, was the second time you returned to "the war zone." You reported to St. Paul’s Chapel you realized the horrible toxic smell was gone. You were set up next to George Washington pew to perform your adjusting treatment to the rescue personnel.
This is the same area where our first president came to pray following his inaugural in 1789.
I can’t even imagine how you handle all of what you saw not once but twice. You returned to the site Sept. 10, 2006, and I am sure your emotions were even more intense.
Just talking to you several days later in the office I could tell you are still and always will be affected by this horrible ordeal. Dr. Bill, you are an amazing person.
I thank you for being such a caring compassionate professional proud American.
God bless all our heroes.
God bless the souls who were lost.
God bless America.
God bless Dr. William Schroeder.
