Iraq is

Vietnam
To the editor:

Bob Woodward’s new book "State of Denial" reveals that Henry Kissinger has been advising President Bush about Iraq, telling him that "victory is the only meaningful exit strategy."
Can anyone now deny that Iraq is the new Vietnam? Both wars were based on false information, both cost the lives of thousands of American troops and tens of thousands of innocent citizens, and both wars rightly lost the support of the American public. Finally, we see Mr. Kissinger’s hand in both wars. President Nixon had a chance to get out of Vietnam in 1970, but kept our troops there three more years based largely on Mr. Kissinger’s advice. How much longer will American troops remain in Iraq?
This November, Americans have a chance to elect a Democratic Congress that will hold President Bush responsible for misleading our nation into an unjust war. I will vote for Sen. Bob Menendez and Rep. Rush Holt, who both voted consistently against the war in Iraq from day one. I urge New Jerseyans to join me in voting for Sen. Menendez and their Democratic congressional candidates. Iraq will remain a quagmire whether our troops remain there or not — just like Vietnam. Let’s bring our troops home and bring this long, sad national nightmare to an end.

Four Seasons

part of community
To the editor:

An article in The Cranbury Press recently highlighted the CERT program now being conducted by the Cranbury Police Department. It clearly states how the citizens of Cranbury could help if a disaster should occur.
The 27 residents (out of a class of 31) of the Four Seasons at Cranbury who participate weekly in this class were surprised that the only persons interviewed were non-residents of Four Seasons. Our adult community takes pride in the response we received for this CERT program. We feel that, as residents of Cranbury, it is our civic responsibility to involve ourselves in community projects. We never knew we were designated as being on the "southside" which appears to be something separate from the village, as quoted in The Cranbury Press.
We would ask the residents of Cranbury to realize that, although we are new to this area, we have involved ourselves in many town activities and participate on many town boards. We would, therefore, like to be acknowledged for our concern and participation.
We are a community of individuals from all over New Jersey and many other states and have come together to help. Please keep this in mind for any future articles pertaining to town issues.
