Nicola Mastropasqua

   EAST WINDSOR — Nicola Mastropasqua, 84, of East Windsor died Sept. 28 at the Elms at Cranbury.
   Mr. Mastropasqua was born in Giovinazzo, Italy. He came to the United States in 1958 and settled in Manhattan, N.Y. until moving eleven years ago to live with his son and family in East Windsor.
   He was a steel worker for the Williamsburg Steel Corp. in Brooklyn, N.Y., for more than 27 years. He retired in 1991.
   He is survived by wife Grazia (DePalo); son Frank and his wife, Stephanie; and grandchildren Nicholas, Brandon and Taylor. Also surviving in Italy are sisters Maria and Antoinette and brother Joseph.
   The funeral was held Monday at the Crabiel Memorial Funeral Home, Hightstown. Entombment was in Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville.
Matthew L. Palaszewski

   ALTOONA, Pa. — Matthew L. Palaszewski, 96, formerly of Hightstown, died Tuesday at Altoona Regional Health Systems-Altoona Hospital Campus.
   Born in Elizabeth, he had most recently lived at the Valley View Nursing Home, Altoona. He moved to Hollidaysburg, Pa in 1997 after living most of his life in Hightstown.
   He worked as a tool and die maker for General Motors Term Stead Division in Trenton, from which he retired, and farmed his homestead in Monroe Township.
   He attended technical school in Elizabeth and was a member of Reservoir Bible Church.
   He was predeceased by his parents, wife Evagene (McCahan) Palaszewski and daughter Laura Ann Peni. He is survived by son Matthew; grandchildren Matthew J. and Mark Palaszewski and Shawna and Sarah Peni; and great-granddaughter Laura Palaszewski.
   Services and interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Route 33, Hightstown, at noon today.
   Arrangements are being handled by the Health Funeral Home, Osceola Mills, Pa.
Betty L. Smullen

   HIGHTSTOWN — Betty L. Smullen, 88, died Sunday at Meadow Lakes.
   Born and married in Philadelphia, she moved to New Jersey after World War II and lived there the rest of her life. She was the widow of Clinton W. Smullen Jr. and a resident of Haddonfield from 1960 to 2002, when she moved to Meadow Lakes.
   While living in Haddonfield, she was a member of the Haddon Fortnightly. She was an enthusiastic bridge player and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband.
   She is survived by daughter Carol S. Brown of Lawrenceville; sons Clinton W. Smullen III of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Richard G. Smullen of Mendham; and five grandchildren.
   Private graveside services will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, Pa.

Ellen Donaghy

   EAST WINDSOR — Ellen Donaghy, 81, died Sept. 26.
   Wife of the late Francis Donaghy and mother of the late Sheila Kminek, she is survived by her children, William Donaghy of Maine, Catherine Pepe and her husband, Anthony, of Browns Mills, Francis Donaghy and his wife, Victoria, of Delran, Margaret Donaghy of Browns Mills, Mary Fonaghy of Lumberton, Hugh Donaghy of East Windsor, Ellen Cavanaugh of Browns Mills, Eileen Buckley and her husband, Carl, of East Windsor, Patricia Donaghy of East Windsor; sisters Catherine McNab and Maureen McCafferty, both of Scotland; 40 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
   The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 29 at St. Ann’s Church, Browns Mills.
   Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
   Arrangements were by the Lankenau Funeral Home, Browns Mills.
Jennie Platt

   NORTH PORT, Fla. — Jennie Platt, 88, formerly of West Windsor and Whiting, died Saturday.
   Wife of the late Theodore Platt, mother of the late Theodore Platt Jr., she is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Louis Pilato of North Port, Fla. and Dale and John Leoni of Montgomery; son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Jane Platt of Cream Ridge; daughter-in-law Terry Platt; sister Gladys Winklehofer of Hightstown; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
   A private family memorial service is planned.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
   Arrangements are by Kays-Ponger Funeral Homes, Port Charlotte, Fla.
