WEST AMWELL South Hunterdon Regional High School will hold a ceremony this weekend to install a plaque and plant a tree in memory of Kyle Donnelly, the young Marine from Lambertville, who died in a car accident in August.
Mr. Donnelly, 19, graduated in 2005 from South Hunterdon where he played on the football team.
The dedication ceremony will be held 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, near the football field, prior to the game against Pennington Prep scheduled for 7 p.m.
The plaque will read "In loving memory of Kyle Donnelly, 1987-2006."
The PTSO and the football booster club arranged for the plaque, according to Principal Don Woodring.
Munds Nursery donated a sugar maple. Students in agricultural science teacher Dave Ritter’s class prepared the ground for the planting.
Parent Sharon Wutke handled the donations, Mr. Woodring said.
Mr. Donnelly belonged to Fox Company 2/3 and was stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He was scheduled to be deployed to Iraq in September. He was home on leave in August when the accident occurred in West Amwell.
