BOE meeting

   Thursday, Oct. 12 — A special executive meeting of the Chesterfield Township Board of Education will be held on at 8 p.m. at the Chesterfield Elementary School and will immediately go into executive session. The meeting will relocate to the Chesterfield Township Municipal Building at approximately 8:30 p.m. The entire meeting will be in executive session to discuss land acquisitions.
Community play

   Beginning Friday, Oct. 13 — The Bordentown Community Players will perform Neil Simon’s comedy "The Gingerbread Lady" at 8 p.m. in the old auditorium of the Rancocas Valley Regional High School, 520 Jacksonville Road, Mt. Holly. Performances will be held at 8 p.m. on Oct. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28, and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 22. Tickets are available online at www.bordentownplayers.org or at the door. Tot Shabbat

   Friday, Oct. 13 — Temple B’Nai Abraham of Bordentown will offer Tot Shabbat service offered monthly at 58 Crosswicks. It is open to all children, ages 1 to 6, and their families. Join us for our candle lighting, potluck dinner, child-friendly service, story and craft from 6 to 7:30 p.m., as we celebrate Sukkot. Admission is free, RSVP required.

Antique sale

   Saturday, Oct. 14 — Find your treasures, from antiques to collectibles, books, glass, china, prints, pottery, fabrics, knick knacks, and some rare items, at a sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Friends Meeting House on Farnsworth Ave, Bordentown, to support the Bordentown Historical Society. Historical walk

   Saturday, Oct. 14 — The Thomas Paine Society of Bordentown will hold its monthly historical walk In the Footsteps of Thomas Paine in Bordentown. The rain date will be Saturday, Oct. 21. Participants will meet at 3:30 p.m at the Old Book Shop of Bordentown for a brief lecture on the history of the publishing of Thomas Paine’s "Common Sense." Special group tours can be arranged. This walk is wheelchair-friendly. No reservations are needed, but tax-deductible donations are appreciated. For information, call The Old Book Shop of Bordentown at (609) 324-9909.
Family-style dinner

   Saturday, Oct. 14 — Bordentown Chapter 257 of the Order of the Eastern Star will host a fried oyster and chicken salad family-style dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 121 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown. Fall decoration

   Saturday, Oct. 14 — Fernbrook Farms will hold a class on how to make decorations at 10 a.m. at the Fernbrook Farms Education Center, 150 Georgetown Road, Bordentown.

Blood drive

   Saturday, Oct. 14 — There will be a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Chickie’s & Pete’s, 183 Route 130 North, Bordentown.
Tae Kwon Do

   Saturday, Oct. 14 — The American Tae-Kwon-Do Moo-Duk-Kwan Academy, located at 250C Route 130/206 in Bordentown Township, will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Martial arts demonstrations led by owner/instructor Mike Lawrence will include bed of nails and board breaking exercises.
Yard sale

   Saturday, Oct. 14 — St. Vincent de Paul will hold a yard sale fundraiser to benefit families in need from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the ShopRite parking lot on Route 206 in Bordentown. All money raised will be used to help families that are in need. Rain date will be Oct. 21.
Women’s Day

   Sunday, Oct. 22 — The women of Shiloh Baptist Church will hold their Annual Women’s Day Celebration at 11 a.m. at the church, 104 ¼ Elizabeth St., Bordentown City. The guest speaker will be Deaconess Elise Grimes of the Christ Baptist Church, Burlington.
CROP walk

   Sunday, Oct. 15 — The Annual Greater Bordentown Area CROP walk will be held at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bordentown. This is a 10k (6-mile) walk through historic Bordentown City. Walkers get pledges from sponsors to raise money to help stop world hunger. The walk will end with refreshments served at the Trinity United Methodist Church.
   This interfaith event had participants from 10 local congregations last year and raised over $3 million.

Bring a friend

   Sunday, Oct. 15 — The First Baptist Church of Bordentown is having a bring-a-friend. Community members are invited at 9 a.m. at the Sunday school. The 10:15 a.m. worship service will include a hymning, special music by the choir and a dramatic first-person sermon on a Biblical character Moses presented by Rev. Jay Rambo. A coffee hour will follow after worship.
Magic show

   Sunday, Oct. 15 — The Andre Kohl Magical Spectacular will take place at 6 p.m. at the Foundation of Life Center, 1035 Columbus Road, Florence Township.

Parish breakfast

   Sunday, Oct. 15 — The Holy Name Society at Holy Assumption Parish will present its all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the church’s McGrath Hall, 1290 Hornberger Ave., Roebling. The cost of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for children 6 to 12 years will include eggs, potatoes, pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Children under 3 can eat for free.
Church anniversary

   Wednesday, Oct. 18 — The Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, 36 E. Burlington St., Bordentown, will is its 165th anniversary this month
   Revival services will be held nightly at 7:30 p.m. Guest preachers are as follows: Bishop George Carthan, pastor of Ebenezer Full Gospel Church, Bordentown, on Oct. 18; Betty Ann Clark, pastor of St. Mark A.M.E. Church, Lindenwold, on Oct. 19; youth night with Rev. Terrell Person, pastor of Jacobs Chapel A.M.E. Church, Mt. Laurel, on Oct. 20.
   Close-out of the 165th anniversary services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Oct. 22. The Rev. Sharon Homer, associate minister of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, Cordelle, Ga., will be the guest preacher.
   Dinner will be served to all following this service at the Carslake Community Center, 209 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, approximately two and one-half blocks from the church. Transportation provided for seniors and the disabled.
Book signing

   Friday, Oct. 20 — Father Martin H. Padavoni will signs copies of his books from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bordentown Home for Funerals at 40 Crosswicks Street in Bordentown. Wine and cheese will be served. The cost is $5. All proceeds will go to Divine World Missionaries. Make checks payable to Society of the Divine World.

Cats fundraiser

   Friday, Oct. 20 — Bordentown City Cats will hold a fundraising event at Silk and Tweed from 6 to 8:30 p.m., 149 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown. Wine and cheese will be served. Come join in and help the organization help Bordentown and its cat population.
   Its annual humanitarian award will be given out at this occasion. All animal lovers are welcome to attend. For more info please call (609) 324-3896.
Pig roast and luau

   Saturday, Oct. 21 — There will be a pig roast at the Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 on 4th Avenue in Roebling. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and a DJ will begin at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $25 and tickets can be obtained by calling Barney Brigg at (609) 499-0186 or Tony Drangula at (609) 499-1731. You can bring your own bottle, but set-ups will be provided.
Book sale

   Sunday, Oct. 22 — St. Mary’s School PTA will sponsor a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school on Crosswicks St., Bordentown City. A large selection of books will be sold at reasonable prices. For more information, call Sue at (609) 324-9082.
Theater trips

   Tuesday, Oct. 24 — The Friends of St. Mary’s School is planning a trip to "Broadway Sally" to the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse to benefit St. Mary’s School. The price of $73 includes sit-down lunch and a delicious dessert buffet. There is also a trip planned for Thursday, Dec. 14 to see "Miracles of Christmas" at the Millennium Theatre in Lancaster, Pa. The price of $85 includes buffet at Shady Maple Restaurant.

Blood drive

   Thursday, Oct. 26 — The Community Blood Council of N.J. will be having a blood drive at Mt. Moriah Lodge, the Masonic Temple, 121 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, from 5 to 9 p.m. If you donate blood at this event, you will receive full coverage for any blood needs you may have for one year through the Masonic Blood Bank. This event is open to the public.
