Farmer has faith in current council
To the editor:
I am also a farmer in Springfield and have been here for 23 years. My husband and I go to all the meetings so I think I have a good idea of what is going on in our town. Maybe I don’t agree with our council all the time, but I realize they work very hard for the good and welfare of our town to stay rural. They work hard to satisfy hardships that other governmental bodies put on our town like COAH (which is state run), Woodhue (which is DEP run). They are very limited in what they can do but they still manage to keep our local taxes down. If you look at our taxes most of the money we pay go for county services.
When are the rest of the residents going to wake up and look around to our neighbors with all the spotty development, high tax rates and new schools. This will domino for then they will need new roads, more lights and more congestion. Do Springfield residents want to live in mini-New York or Philadelphia?
Wake up people. Read between the lines. Don’t let developers and investors take over. That’s what going to happen to our beautiful rural town. Keep our present council in. They are for us. Put rumors where they belong, in the garbage.
