Edward F. Mulroy, 83, of Monroe, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Elms Nursing Home, Cranbury.
Born in Newark, Mr. Mulroy lived in Sayreville for 23 years before moving to Rossmoor in 1979. Mr. Mulroy was employed for 27 years as a supervisor for I.E. DuPont DeNemours & Co., Newark, retiring in 1981. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Guadalcanal and the Philippines.
Mr. Mulroy was past president of the Catholic Society and the Emerald Society, both of Rossmoor, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 426, South Amboy. He was a eucharistic minister at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, Helmetta.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Costello Mulroy; a son, Gregory, and his wife, Eileen, of Elizabeth; a daughter, Sharon Varriale, and her husband, Richard, of Wellington, Fla.; a sister, Winifred Nichols of Grays Lake, Ill.; and six grandsons, Sgt. Christopher Varriale, USMC, Pfc. Sean Varriale, USMC, Cpl. Timothy Mulroy, USMC, Cpl. Kevin Mulroy, USMC, Matthew Mulroy and Seamus Mulroy.
Services were held Saturday, Oct. 7, at Lester Memorial Home, 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg, and were followed by a funeral liturgy at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, Helmetta. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
