The Northern Burlington Junior Greyhounds 75-pound squad improved to 5-0 with wins over Lawnside, Pine Hill and Burlington City during the past three weeks.
The Greyhounds first went to Lawnside and won decisively, 25-0, over the Jaguars. It was a quality game on both sides of the ball for the Greyhounds.
The game started with bang with a 50-yard touchdown pass and run by Shawn Allen from quarterback Scott Senachai. The offensive line anchored by Michael Cottrell, Vincent Foggia, Michael Jastrezbski, Ben Jones, Evan Kreutzberg, Colin O’Malley and Paul Meduri played very well, allowing Brandon Campbell to rush for 165 yards and two touchdown runs of 49 and 3 yards. Senachai also added a touchdown run of his own.
The Greyhound defense notched their second shutout behind Ben Jones, Paul Meduri, Vincent Foggia, Scott Senachai and Kevin Welsh, who all had four or more tackles. The defense held off a late first-half scoring threat deep in Greyhound territory. Other notables on defense included Cameron Tucker, Kevon McClary and Evan Kreutzberg.
The Greyhounds traveled to Pine Hill and won a very exciting game in double overtime, 13-6. Shawn Allen had two catches for 81 yards, including a 51-yard scoring strike from quarterback Scott Senachai on the first play of the game. Brandon Campbell had his third consecutive 100-yard rushing game and the game-winning touchdown run in overtime. He also added the very important extra point.
The defense played very well again, only allowing the one score. The leaders on defense were Scott Senachai (eight tackles and a force fumble) and Vincent Foggia (seven tackles and a QB sack). Other notables were Kevon McClary (five tackles), Ben Jones (four tackles and a fumble recovery), Michael Cottrell (three tackles), Shawn Allen (three tackles) and Kevin Welsh (two tackles and two defended passes).
The Greyhounds then hosted and defeated Burlington City, 14-0. Brandon Campbell and Scott Senachai each scored a touchdown and an extra point. Several key down field blocks helped open up running lanes for the scores. Vince Foggia had a 6-yard pass reception, the only one on the windy afternoon. The defense played very well only giving up two first downs while holding City to no score.
The leaders on defense were Paul Meduri (five tackles, including three for a loss), Vincent Foggia (four tackles), Scott Senachai (three tackles), Kevon McClary (three tackles) and Chad DiMattia (two tackles and a fumble recovery). The entire defense needs to be applauded for their play.
Northern Burlington Junior Greyhounds 60-pound squad improves to 4-1 with wins over the Lawnside Jaguars, Pine Hill and a tough loss to Burlington City.
The Greyhound 60’s squad was victorious over Lawnside, 19-0. The offense was led by two touchdown runs by Ezra Jones of 48 and 32 yards. William Mesa added another touchdown run of 45 yards. The team had a very strong defensive team showing behind Dominick Sivestri, Nicholas Morgan and Ezra Jones, each with four solo tackles. Jalen Gaffney also contributed with three solo tackles.
The 60-pound Greyhounds remained undefeated with their victory over Pine Hill by a score of 26-0. The offense was led by Ezra Jones with touchdown runs off 58 and 60 yards. William Mesa added a 68-yard TD and Jalen Gaffney also posted a score with a 42-yard TD run. Extra points were scored by David Coit and Dominick Silvestri. Another good overall defensive effort by the team including Diondre Pearson’s four solo tackles for losses.
