MONTGOMERY Montgomery Players will present "The Philadelphia Story" by Philip Barry at 8 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4 at Montgomery High School.
The 1940 Broadway comedy inspired the award-winning movie of the same title, starring Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart.
The action of the play takes place on the Main Line in Philadelphia in 1940. The well-to-do Tracy Lord is about to marry for the second time after divorcing the wealthy C. K. Dexter Haven. Tracy plans on marrying George Kittredge, a self-made man who worked his way up through the coal mines. Things turn upside down when two reporters conceal their identities and find their way into Tracy’s home to cover the story of the publicity-shy Lord family. To add even more stress to the situation, Dexter Haven, Tracy’s ex-husband, returns unexpectedly.
The cast includes Ashley McGinnis, Chelsea Moubarak, Kate McCall, Christian Aurup, Bobby Booth, Phil Mehl, Quinn Connors, Eric Beddini-Monaghan, Matt Favetta, Alex Curran, Josh Minton, Liz Smulian, Camille Vazquez-Reyes and Lauren Delucia. There are also more than 40 students working behind the scenes to bring the production to life.
The play is directed by Tara Handschin.
Tickets are $4 for students and senior citizens and $5 for adults. For ticket information, call (609) 466-7602.
