Ralph H. Mather
Princeton bank president
SARASOTA, Fla. Ralph H. Mather died April 25. He was 93.
Born in Princeton, he was a resident of Princeton for more than 50 years before moving to Sarasota in 1977.
He retired as president of First National Bank of Princeton. He also had been a bank examiner for 20 years.
He graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick and served as a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II.
He had been a member of Nassau Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Grinnell-Mather; brother Robert I. of Washington, Ill.; and a niece.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton.

Mary F. Kahny
Registered nurse
Mary F. Rizzo Kahny of Princeton died Tuesday. She was 78.
Born and raised in Canonsburg, Pa., she was a resident of Princeton for the past 50 years.
Mrs. Kahny retired after many years as a registered nurse at Princeton Medical Group. She previously was a nurse at University Medical Center at Princeton.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church and its Golden Agers.
She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Princeton Engine Company No. 1.
Daughter of the late Albert and Rose Rizzo, wife of the late Albert Kahny, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Diane Kahny of Highpoint, N.C., and Matthew and Bobbie Kahny of Plano, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law Tina and Mark Magarity of New York City and Kathy and Mark Brzezynski of West Windsor; and grandchildren Danny, Ryan, A.J., Logan and Olivia.
The funeral will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton.
Burial will be in Princeton Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harry B. Anderson Jr.
Top executive at Merrill Lynch
Harry B. Anderson Jr. of Princeton died Wednesday at home after a long illness. He was 88.
Mr. Anderson was former chairman of Merrill Lynch International.
A native of Memphis, Tenn., he graduated from Yale University in 1939 with a bachelor’s degree in history.
The following year, he entered the Marine Corps and served in the Pacific during World War II. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Navy Commendation Ribbon and retired from the Marine Corps in 1947 with the rank of colonel.
He joined Merrill Lynch in 1947 and became a floor broker on the Cotton Exchange in New Orleans. In 1954, he moved up to director of the firm’s commodity division and that same year he was named a general partner. He later became a senior vice president and head of Merrill Lynch’s municipal bond division, and then manager of the main brokerage office located in the firm’s headquarters in New York.
In 1968, he was elected president of Merrill Lynch International, which conducted the company’s general securities business outside the United States and Canada. He subsequently became chairman and chief executive officer of Merrill Lynch International and vice chairman of the board of Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. He retired in 1980.
As a result of his career and love of travel, Mr. Anderson visited more than 100 countries.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Claire "Patty" H. Matz Anderson of Princeton; sons Alexander M. Anderson of Fair Hope, Ala. and Red Lodge, Mont., Joseph C. Anderson II of Dallas and Jeffrey M. Anderson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter-in-law Joie A. Anderson of New York City, wife of Mr. Anderson’s eldest son, Harry B. Anderson III, who died in 1990; sister Adelaide Cummings of West Falmouth, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer St., Princeton.

Phyllis B. Green
Former Princeton resident
WINCHESTER, N.H. Phyllis B. Green died Oct. 1 in Keene, N.H., following a period of failing health. She was 85.
Born in Plainfield, she resided in Princeton for 25 years and then in Wilton, Conn., West Chop, Mass., and Maui, Hawaii, prior to moving to Winchester.
Mrs. Green had been active in local charities and was a talented writer, having published a prizewinning essay in the Atlantic Monthly as a teenager. She also enjoyed painting in many media and styles, from abstract to realistic, and found great pleasure in growing vegetables, flowers and herbs.
She was a member of the Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church of Wilton, Conn.
Daughter of the late Edward and Gladys Booth, wife of the late John O. Green, she is survived by sons John Green of Albuquerque, N.M., Ted Green of Hudson, Mass., and Thomas Green of Brattleboro, Vt.; sister Rhoda Strait; niece Elizabeth Mattheson of Portland, Maine; grandchildren Amy, Emilyn, Bridget, Peter, Sam and Fiona; and three nephews.

James E. Koskey of Princeton died Wednesday at Princeton Care Center. He was 85.
Born in New York, he was a former Floral Park, N.Y., resident.
He retired as a mechanic supervisor at Trans World Airlines.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and belonged to the Rifle Club.
Son of the late Joseph and Kathryn Koskey, husband of the late Muriel Ober Koskey, he is survived by daughters Barbara J. Espenschied of Lawrence Township and Sandra Willis of Wheeler, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Thursday at the Princeton Cemetery.
