HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP Karl John Franke died Saturday, Oct. 14, at home.
Born in Linden, he was a longtime resident of Hopewell Township, moving there from Yardley, Pa., in 1955, to a home he had designed and partially built.
He attended Newark College of Engineering (New Jersey Institute of Technology) and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a licensed professional engineer.
He worked for DeLaval Steam Turbine Company in Trenton for 35 years.
He also was active over the years in many community volunteer services.
He was a member of the West Amwell congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He was a longtime member of the Mohawk Canoe Club.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Rose Catherine Franke; two daughters, Rose Franke Koch of Mountain Lakes, N.J., and Elise Franke of Hopewell Township; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Karl Edward Franke of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Mark Parker and Kerry Mote Franke of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren, William "Will" Mott Franke and Krista Noelle Franke and Matthew Kelley Downey of Raleigh; and nephews and nieces, Donald Cowell, Dorothy Cowell Todd, Andrew Simpson, David Cowell, Patricia Simpson Seebergh and Leah Cowell Hancock.
A memorial service was held at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall Friday. Burial was in Harbourton Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Blackwell Memorial Home, Pennington.

LAMBERTVILLE Philip N. Conner, 77, of Lambertville died Monday, Oct. 16, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., Mr. Conner lived in Lambertville since 1976. Earlier, he lived in Pittstown, N.J.
He was a driver for National Auto Parts in Lambertville before retiring 10 years ago. Earlier, he worked as a machine operator for the Lipton Tea Company in Raritan Township.
He was a Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War.
He was a former coach with the Lambertville Little League.
He was the son of the late William and Dessa Scott Conner.
Surviving are two daughters, Dawn M. Eick of Lambertville and Heather L. Haney of Monroeton, Pa.; two sons, Bryan M. Connor and Scott E. Conner, both of Lambertville; six grandchildren with another grandchild due; and his former wife, Karen Renfrew Conner of Lambertville.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, Lambertville. Committal will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

WEST AMWELL Monika C. Campbell, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 19, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Koenigsberg, Germany, Mrs. Campbell moved to the United States in 1963.
She was a registered dental hygienist and in recent years had worked in the practices of Dr. Robert Bowden in Flemington and Dr. Frank Ricker in Clinton.
She was the daughter of the late Walter Conrad.
Surviving are her mother, Ilse Kastner Conrad of Mainz, Germany, one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Sharon Leslie of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Chris Newman of Petaluma, Calif., and Julienne and Cody Smith of Woodbine, Md.; two sisters, her twin, Renate Gebauer of Munich, Germany, and Gisela Kattus of Mainz; her former husband, Dr. Oliver A. Campbell DDS of High Bridge; one granddaughter, Bridget Newman; and several nieces and nephews.

BURLINGTON Donald R. Pierson, 89, of Burlington, N.J., died Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly, N.J.
Born in Trenton, Mr. Pierson lived in Burlington for the past five years.
Earlier he lived in Sarasota, Fla., from 1983 to 2001, in Lakewood, N.J., from 1971 to 1983 and in Delaware Township from 1952 to 1971.
He worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone for 40 years before retiring in 1977, first as a lineman and later as a test table technician. He also operated a farm in Delaware Township for many years.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army, serving in Europe.
He was a past member of the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church, the Lakewood United Methodist Church and the Sarasota United Methodist Church.
Mr. Pierson was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 107 in Beverly-Riverside, N.J. He also was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers of America.
With his late wife, Catherine Smith Pierson, Mr. Pierson was a folk, square, round and line dancer and participated in dance competitions and gatherings throughout the United States and Canada.
He was the son of the late Arthur B. and Edith B. Dilts Pierson and brother of the late Edna Prince, Helen McCouch and Dorothy Houston.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice P. and James Nuneviller of Lambertville and Patricia and Harry Shepherd III of Pipersville, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald R. and Marge Pierson of Ocala, Fla., and Arthur E. and Tami Pierson of Louisville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
