The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, announced the following local students who received degrees at the summer 2006 commencement exercises:
John Vincent M. Padre of Eatontown, a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering; and
Joseph Y. Chen of Little Silver, a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering.
Lauryn A. Herchakowski, Shrewsbury, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Montclair State University. A senior in the athletic training education program, she is doing her internship with the New York City Rockettes athletic trainer in preparation for the Christmas season. She is also the founder of, and dancer with, Rhythm Nation Dance dance club she started on campus. A graduate of Red Bank Regional High School, Little Silver, she is the daughter of Peggy and Andy Herchakowski.
Katelyn Fitzgerald, Eatontown, a graduate of Monmouth Regional High School, Tinton Falls, recently received the Re/Max Quest for Excellence Scholarship Award for outstanding achievements in community service. Fitzgerald received a $500 check and a Certificate of Excellence from Rich Nagel, broker/owner of Re/Max Elite, Long Branch. While in her high school, Fitzgerald volunteered at a local soup kitchen, and founded a tutoring program at her school for English as a Second Language students. She was selected from approximately 900 applicants statewide.
