Clean-up Day at Buckelew Park

Mansion in need of yard maintenance

JAMESBURG — It’s a dirty job, but somebody’s got to do it.
The Jamesburg Historical Association is calling upon the people of Jamesburg to pick up their rakes and head on over to Lakeview: Buckelew Mansion at 203 Buckelew Ave. for a little yard work.
To prepare for the winter months that lie ahead, Clean-up Day at Buckelew Park is scheduled for Nov. 11 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Among the work that needs to be done that day are raking leaves, cleaning flowerbeds and removing debris.
Borough Historian Tom Bodall organized the event with his college’s historic society as part of a community service project and he is asking that borough residents pitch in.
Not only is the project fairly large in scale — the grounds are over an acre in size — but Mr. Bodall said maintaining Lakeview is in the best interest of everyone.
"It’s a public facility in town, the grounds are historical, it houses our historical collections. The house is a great source of pride for the community," Mr. Bodall said.
Participants are asked to provide their own rakes and the association will provide cleaning supplies. Refreshments will be served. In the event of inclement weather, the event will not be held and there is no rain date.
Those interested in volunteering can call Mr. Bodall at (732) 521-2040 and leave a message.
