Roberta Holt Kozinski, 76, of Cranbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born on Sept. 1, 1930 in Atlantic City, N.Y., she grew up in Mays Landing and was a resident of Cranbury since the 1950s.
She was a graduate of Pleasantville High School, Class of 1948. She received her bachelor’s degree from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) in 1952 and received her master’s degree in education from Rider College in 1967. She began her career in education at Tuckerton High School from 1952 to 1953. Ms. Kozinski taught at the Jamesburg High School from 1968 to 1972, the Federation of Handicapped in New York City from 1973 to 1976, the Horizon House in Philadelphia from 1976 to 1980, and was the manager/owner of Cranbury Pharmacy from 1981 to 1987. Starting in 1988 she taught at Mercer County Community College until her retirement in 1995.
Ms. Kozinski was a member and three time President of Cranbury Lioness Club, the Friends of the Cranbury Library, St. David’s Episcopal Church, Francis Hopkinson Monmouth Court House Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, was the former Secretary to DAR Chapter (Chaplain of Chapter from May 2004) and former member and Secretary of Cranbury Business Association.
She was also a member of the Friends of New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, a member and treasurer of the N.J. Chapter of United States Daughters of 1812, a member and Registrar of Lady Deborah Moody Chapter of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and a member of the Cranbury Historical and Preservation Society.
She was a student of history and enjoyed researching genealogy. She treasured her summers at the beach with her family, especially with her grandsons.
Her parents, Amos H. and Viola Abbott Holt, are deceased. Her husband, Victor Kozinski, died in 1983. She is survived by three children, James Kozinski and his wife, Alison, of South Korea, Catherine Quinn and her husband, Kevin, of Mt. Airy, Md., and Jane Kozinski of Cranbury; two grandchildren, Patrick Quinn and Michael Kozinski; one brother, Monty Holt and his wife, Mary Lou; sister-in-law, Genevieve Kozinski Jacobs of California; and one niece, Jeannine Holt.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 23, at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 90 S. Main St., Cranbury, N.J. The Rev. Karin R. Mitchell officiated. Interment followed in Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury, N.J.. Contributions may be made in Ms. Kozinski’s memory to St. David’s Episcopal Church, 90 S. Main St., Cranbury, N.J. 08512.
