N. Dennis Stafford Jr.
Noel Dennis Stafford Jr., 69, died Oct. 8 at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Fla.
Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Haddonfield prior to moving with his family to Deer Run Farm in Harbourton at age 11.
Mr. Stafford attended Hopewell Valley schools including Pennington High School and graduated from The George School, Newtown, Pa., where he was vice president of his class and editor of the school newspaper. In 1958, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College.
Having earned a commission in the U.S. Navy where he served a four-year tour of duty, he was a naval intelligence officer. He then worked in the banking field, first for the New York Federal Reserve Bank and subsequently for The Bank of New York. He accepted a position as assistant vice president at The American Stock Exchange where he worked for 10 years. In 1981, he left Pennington to work in the brokerage field, first with Burgess & Leith in Boston and then at Advest Inc. in Hartford as vice president of Research and Corporate Finance.
In retirement, he was a resident of Frye Island on Lake Sebago, Maine, and of Lutz, Fla. Mr. Stafford was active in his church and participated in missions to Vietnam and the Dominican Republic.
Preceded in death by his parents Noel D. and Eleanor Stafford and his brother Craig Stafford, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Catherine Stafford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Lee Ferguson and her husband John, and Cynthia Eleanor Derrenbacker and her husband Robert Jr.; four grandchildren, Nathaniel and Elizabeth Ferguson and Chloe and John Derrenbacker; a brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Ann Stafford; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Nov. 11, at the Westerly Road Church, Princeton.

Elizabeth W. Hurley
Elizabeth "Betty" Woolston Hurley died Friday in Louisiana.
Born in Clayton, she was a resident of Gray, La.
Mrs. Hurley was a retired bookkeeper with Pierson Construction Co. with 10 years of service. She was a member of Keenagers, the Kitchen Crew and Bell Choir at Mullberry Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents Stephen E. Woolston Sr. and Luella Hixson Woolston, her husband John "Pete" Arthur Hurley, twin grandchildren Patricia and Jennifer Yonko and a sister L. Ann Woolston, she is survived by daughters Sharon Ann H. Fenton and husband William Gerard Fenton of Alpharetta, Ga., Beth H. Carlos and husband Gerard Carlos of Gray, La., and Patricia H. Yonko and husband Davis Yonko of Houma, La; a brother Stephen E. Woolston Jr. and wife Peg of Toms River; grandchildren Toby C. Trahan and husband Tommy, Tina Fister and husband Jay, Christopher Carlos and wife Cathy, Peter H. Gantz and wife Linda, Stephen W. Gantz and wife Sheryl, Elizabeth Williams and husband Mike, Amy Y. Ruth and husband Bill, Jill Y. Wagner and husband John; and great-grandchildren Garrett and Justin Trahan, Sarah and Alyssa Fister, Alexis and Brooke Carlos, Jordan and Casey Green, Evan Ruth, Mikayla and Carter Gantz and Trent and Abagail Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cromwell-Immordino Memorial Home, 71 E. Prospect St., Hopewell.
Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the memorial home.
