Voting set for Tuesday

By: Scott Morgan
On Tuesday, campaigns end and the future faces of local governments will be decided by voters who take to the polls.
Two contested and two uncontested races highlight the local scene, where 12 candidates vie for the chance to sit on municipal bodies.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 7 for all races in Allentown, Millstone, Plumsted and Upper Freehold. Below is a breakdown of who is running and where to vote, by municipality.
Allentown
Two Republican incumbents, Dan Wimer and Jerry Rovner are running uncontested races to win a pair of three-year seats on the Borough Council. Voters in District 1 can cast their ballots in the Allentown High School lobby on Route 539; residents in District 2 can vote at the Allentown Methodist Church on Church Street.
Millstone
One of the area’s two contested local races features four candidates looking to secure a pair of three-year seats on the Township Committee. Republican incumbents Elias Abilheira and Nancy Grbelja look to retain their seats, while independent challengers Bill Nurko and John Pfefferkorn look to return to the committee. Mr. Nurko served on the Township Committee as a Democrat until he lost his bid for re-election last year. Mr. Pfefferkorn served as an independent committeeman for a single term that ended after he lost his bid for re-election in 2004.
Voters in District 1 may cast their ballots at Millstone Community Center on Stagecoach Road; voters in District 2 can vote at the former Municipal Building on Millstone Road; and voters in districts 3 through 6 may cast their ballots at Millstone Elementary School on Schoolhouse Road
Plumsted
The area’s other contested local race features four candidates looking to shore up a pair of three-year Township Committee seats. With Committeeman Joe Pyrzywara and Committeewoman Bonnie Quesnel not seeking re-election, the doors are open to a quartet of newcomers, each seeking their first terms on the committee.
Democrats Mitch Geier and Elizabeth Lane vie against Republicans Mike McCue and Eric Sorchik.
District 1 voting will take place at New Egypt Volunteer Fire Co. on Main Street; District 2 voting will take place at the New Egypt First Aid Squad on Brynmore Road; District 3 voting will take place at Jensen’s Deep Run on Route 537; and District 4 voting will take place at the township Municipal Building on Evergreen Road.
Upper Freehold
Two Republicans will run unchallenged for two three-year Township Committee seats. Committeeman Steve Alexander and newcomer Robert Faber look to secure the posts. Committeeman Sal Diecidue, who lost his bid to represent the Republican party in the June primary, has announced a write-in campaign to reclaim his seat.
Voters in District 1 can cast their ballots at the township Municipal Building on Route 539. District 2 and 4 voters can vote at the Allentown First Aid Squad building on Route 526; and residents in District 3 can vote at Hope Fire Company on Route 526.
