PLAINSBORO — Residents will have the opportunity to save lives Nov. 12 by donating blood at the Plainsboro Public Library.
New Jersey Blood Services will run the drive, which is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Donors should be between the ages of 17 and 70, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Each donor receives a free mini medical exam, including reports on temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure and iron level.
Library volunteers are also offering free babysitting services to donors who bring their children to the drive.
According to NJBS officials, only 2 percent of eligible New Jersey residents donate blood annually, as compared to the national average of 5 percent. This often leads to a serious blood shortage throughout the state.
Each pint of donated blood can be separated into three components and used to treat three patients.
The library is located in the Plainsboro Municipal Complex, 641 Plainsboro Road. For additional information, call (609) 275-2897.
