Quattrone, Schneider re-elected to Borough Council.

HIGHTSTOWN Republican Bob Patten has won a second four-year term as mayor with a slim 26-vote margin over Democratic Councilman Walter Sikorski, according to unofficial vote tallies Tuesday night.
He will continue to preside over an all-Democratic Borough Council, as incumbents Larry Quattrone and Dave Schneider won landslide victories over newcomer Republican candidates Ron Niebo and Dave Keeler, according to those same unofficial numbers.
Mr. Patten, a 63-year-old retired teacher, overcame both a local Democratic registration edge and a national backlash against Republicans seen as a referendum on the war in Iraq. He did so by a 694-to-668 margin over Mr. Sikorski, a 66-year-old retired teacher.
Mr. Quattrone, the 64-year-old owner of Dom’s Getty on Mercer Street who doesn’t believe in campaigning, garnered the highest number of votes, 912. By virtue of that, he will be seated for a third, full three-year term after being chosen to fill an unexpired term in 2000.
Mr. Schneider, a 38-year-old restaurateur who is serving as council president, came in second in the race for two seats, with 782 votes.
Mr. Keeler, a 57-year-old accountant, garnered 474 votes, while Mr. Niebo, a 32-year-old research analyst, received 472.
