With no opposition, Plainsboro Democrats prevail in committee race

   PLAINSBORO — The blue party triumphed in Plainsboro Tuesday night, with residents backing Democratic candidates for both local and state offices.
   Residents re-elected Plainsboro Township Committee members Ginger Gold-Schnitzer and Neil Lewis to two three-year seats. Both ran unopposed. According to unofficial results, Ms. Gold-Schnitzer received 3,163 votes and Mr. Lewis received 3,116.
   In the race for U.S. Senate, residents favored Democrat Robert Mendendez with 2,757 votes. Mr. Menendez’s challenger, Republican Thomas H. Kean Jr., received 1,460 votes.
   Residents also backed Democratic incumbent Rush Holt to represent the 12th Congressional District by better than a three-to-one margin. Mr. Holt received 3,260 votes, and his challenger, Republican Joseph S. Sinagra, received 1,008.
   At the county level, township residents supported two candidates to the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders who will serve three-year terms. Democratic incumbents John Pulomena and James H. Polos received 2,709 and 2,646 votes respectively. Their challengers, Republicans Geoffrey Champion and Andrew Tidd, received 1,333 and 1,309 votes respectively.
