WW bridge work to force closings of Alexander Road

WEST WINDSOR — As preliminary work on the new Alexander Road bridge over the Northeast Corridor rail line begins, a portion of Alexander Road will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. starting Wednesday.
According to Township Engineer Jim Parvesse, the current bridge will be closed on an "as needed basis" for the next nine to 12 weeks to accommodate advanced utility work, including relocating telephone poles and wires and cutting down trees.
Detour routes are available on the township’s Web site at http://westwindsornj.org.
These closings mark the preliminary stages of a construction project that will replace the bridge at North Post Road and Alexander Road. The new bridge will include a traffic-calming circle and space for pedestrians and cyclists. Construction is expected to begin in the spring.
