MANVILLE James J. "Jimmy" Bercik died Nov. 6 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was 61.
Born in Elizabeth, he was raised in North Plainfield and lived in Ohio for many years before moving back to Manville in 1983.
Mr. Bercik was employed by Bristol-Myers Squibb as a painter/maintenance worker for many years. He was the owner of Buckeye Painting Co. while living in Ohio and New Jersey.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville.
He was a member of the Manville Elks, a supporter of the Manville Youth Athletic League and an avid bowler.
His parents, John and Rita (Coyne) Bercik, are deceased; and a brother, John R. Bercik, died in 2004.
Surviving are his children, James W. and Jerry M. of Ohio; Suzan "Birdy" of Virginia Beach, Va; and Michael John with whom he lived; a sister, Rita "Jean" D’Amato of Toms River; 10 grandchildren; and his former wife, Patricia Bercik of Piscataway.
Funeral services were held Saturday from Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home in Manville, followed by a funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Church.
Disposition was private.
