Anne E. (O’Brien) Evans, 54, of Monroe, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, at her home in Monroe.
Born in South Amboy, she lived a short time in New Brunswick and eventually moved to her home in Monroe in 1982. She graduated from St. Peter’s Nursing School in New Brunswick in 1973 after receiving her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Rutgers University. She was a registered nurse and worked for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for 23 years before her retirement in 1997.
She was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed making flower arrangements for her family and friends.
Her mother, Leah (Berlew), died in 2003. She is survived by her father, Thomas O’Brien; her husband of 26 years, Lawrence J. Evans; her son, Patrick Evans of Monroe; her two brothers, Timothy O’Brien and his wife, Jean, of Annandale, Va., and Thomas O’Brien and his wife, Nancy, of Sorrento, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 11, at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe. A funeral liturgy was held the same day at Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monroe Township, and was followed by interment at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
